Which virtual firewall rules do I need to configure to allow remote desktop connection to a virtual machine in 5nine Cloud Security?

Issue

I want to configure virtual firewall rules to allow remote desktop connection to a virtual machine (VM) in 5nine Cloud Security. How do I do that?

Resolution

To allow remote desktop connection to a VM, the following firewall rules must be added and configured:

  • ARP/L2 rule allowing any ARP/L2 traffic on the VM. Please note that the allow Any L2 rule is recommended for All VMs default group unless you intend to specifically control L2 (Layer 2) traffic.

  • IP rule allowing inbound TCP traffic on the local port 3389.
